Dear St Philip's Friends,

As many of you know, Rob Lamerton is now at home and steadily continuing his recovery from surgery. He 'phoned me briefly on Tuesday to say "Hello" and was cheerful, positive and glad to be home!

Some may have heard that Sandy was unwell on Sunday, but she is OK now. Rob asked me to pass on his thanks for the many prayers and for the love and care being given to Sandy as well as himself. All the good food is greatly appreciated. There is enough in store for the moment. Doreen will let us know when more is needed. Of course, Rob and Sandy both need peace, quiet and rest as much as possible, so please continue to keep visits and calls to a minimum.

A happy Father's Day to all the Dads! That's all from me this week, as I want leave some space for Ray!

Much love, James Kim, Rector’s Warden

Dear St Philip's Friends,

I am very grateful for the welcome you have given me as I have to share in the life of St Philip's parish community for a time. I have known of St Philip's for many years and worked with George Garnsey in Morpeth during the early '80s. I also have known Rob since his student days, and I am pleased that is possible for me to offer to assist him and the parish in this way during his illness.

It is very good news that he was able to come home from hospital yesterday week. That was a sign of significant improvement, for which we are all are very thankful, and we continue to pray for him, that he will continue to be renewed in strength and health, and for Sandy in her concern, support and love for him. Again, they say 'thank you' for all the generous care and love that has been shown to them during this difficult and stressful time.

It has been suggested that I might use this column today to let you know a little about myself and my background. The most exciting thing to say first is that I recently re-married - just 9 weeks ago today. Erica and I then moved to Canberra 4 weeks ago and she was inducted as Rector of Holy Cross, Hackett, on 16 August. So it has been a time both of great joy and of significant change.

Regarding our families, I have two daughters, Elizabeth and Judy (who is married to Michael), living in Sydney, and a mother, who turned 92 last Tuesday, living near Gosford; and Erica has a sister, also in Sydney.

At the end of July, I completed 8 months as Acting Rector of St Luke's Mosman, where I had been assisting for the previous 8 months. Prior to that, my years in ordained ministry broadly fall into two extensive periods, in Morpeth and in Sydney. At that point, however, I think the space might require a continuation next week.

Every blessing for this week, Ray Williamson
