A new page for discussion on Palestine/Israel issues is at StPipsAction.html
My blog is now a place where I post current issues and the posts are archived there too.
Much of what I had intended to do on this page will be done there. At anchell.blogspot.com
a Franciscan Blessing:
May God bless you with discomfort;
discomfort at easy answers, half truths and superficial relationships,
so that you may live deep within your heart;
May God bless you with anger;
anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people,
so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.
May God bless you with tears;
tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war,
so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their
pain into joy.
May God bless you with foolishness;
enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world,
so that you can do what others claim cannot be done,
and the peace of God, which passes all understanding,
keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God and of his
Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
be amongst you and remain with you always. Amen.
At the celebration of Easter there are two special tasks to be done. Decorating the Paschal Candle and singing The Exultet at the Lighting of the New Fire on Easter morning. (6am at St Philip's)
First, the Paschal Candle is decorated. I have enjoyed doing this for many years. One year I was visiting Yass parish when a friend was doing a locum. He preferred to mark the candle himself during the Easter Vigil service. Some marks were needed to guide this. I had acrylic paints from my St Philip's work on the candle, but no brush. I found a stick on the ground that would do!
This year (2010) the design is: candle2009.jpg
I have the design we use at St Philips at Paschal_Candle2010.pdf and
candle2010.jpg more instructions and suggestions are at http://members.tip.net.au/~lindafrd/Exultet/Candle.html.
The music we use for the Exultet is found at exultet.pdf with an explanation at: http://members.tip.net.au/~lindafrd/Exultet/The_Exultet.htm
